Quebec, Canada largest provinve ocupies a vast territory ( nearly three times the size of France), most of which is very sparsely populated. More than 90 porcent of Quebec´shh area lies within the Canadian Shield, and includes the greater part of the Labrador Peninsula, Quebec´s highest mountain is Mont D´lberville which is located on the border with New foundland and Labrador in the northeastern parte of the provinve in the Torngat Mountains. The addition of part of the vast and scarcely populated District of Ungava of the Northwest territories between 1898 and 1912 gave the province its current form.
Quebec is bordered by the province of Ontario, James Bay and Hudson Bay ( including the circular Nastapoka arc)
The west, the provinces of New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrados to the east, the United States (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York) to the south and Hudson Strait and Ungava Bay to the north its northernmost point is Cape Wolstenholme.
The territory of Quebec is extremly rich in recources in ist coniferous forets, lakes, and rivers-pulp and paper lumber, and hydroelectricity are still some of the province´s most important industries. The far north of the province, Nunavik is subarctic or artic and is mostly inhabited by Inuit.

Climate
Quebec has three main climate regions. Southern and western Quebec, incluiding most of the major population centres, have a humid continental climate (Köpen climate classification ) with warm, humid summers and long, cold winters. The main climatic influences are from weatern and northern Canada which move eastward and from the souther and Central United States that move northward. Due to the influence of both storm system from the cor of North America and the Atlantic Ocean, precipitation is abundant throughout the year, with most areas receiving more than 1000 mm of precipitation, incluiding over 300 cm of snow i many areas. During the summer, severe weather patterns ( tornadoes and severe thunderstorms).

The arms were granted in 1868 and modified in 1938
The three fleur-de-lis in the chief represent France ( the founding country of the province), the lion represents Britain ( the conquencing country of Quebec), while the green maple leaves represent Quebec.

Federal government
Quebec is part of the Canadian federation, which includes nine other provinces and three northern territories.
The Canadian Parliament is principally composed of the House of Commons and the Senate. Federal Members of Parliament sit in the House of Commons and are elected by universal suffrage for a five-year term.
Members of the Senate are appointed by the Prime Minister of Canada on the recommendation of the provinces. Twenty-three senator come from Quebec.

National Holiday
In 1977, the Quebec of Parliament declare June 24 to be Quebec National Holiday. Historically June 24 was a holiday honouring French Canada´s patron saint. St John the Baptist
which is why it is commonly know as La Saint-Jean-Baptiste ( often shortened to La St-Jean). On this day, the song " Gens du Pays" by Gilles Vigneault is often heard and commonly regarded as Quebec´s unofficial anthem.
